ISO 3601 is a globally valid standard for the dimensioning, selection and use of O-rings for general sealing applications. The standard includes both imperial and metric dimensions in order to take both measurement systems into account.
In this respect, it combines the dimension tables of DIN 3771 and AS568. The standard consists of five parts that cover a wide range of regulations:
Inner diameter, cord thickness, dimensions and tolerances
Installation spaces and general applications
Shape and surface applications
Selection and types of support rings
Requirements for elastomer materials
#1 Definition table ISO 3601
ISO 3601 is an international standard for the use of O-rings as sealing elements in fluid technology.
#2 Meaning of the ISO 3601 table
The standard combines dimension tables for O-rings with rules for dimensioning the installation spaces and thus ensures the correct compression of the sealing elements. This is the decisive criterion for a reliable seal.
With information on tolerances and permissible surface deviations, the standard is suitable as a reference basis for ordering O-rings.
