The groove width is a dimension that indicates the distance between the two flanks of a groove. In most cases, this is a rectangular groove. The groove width is also specified for other groove geometries such as trapezoidal grooves or T-grooves.
Grooves can be found both in timber construction and in general mechanical engineering. Together with the groove width, the groove depth defines the dimensions of a groove. Both dimensions determine which components, connecting elements or seals can be accommodated in the groove.
