The Elastomer Guideline regulates requirements for elastomers that come into contact with drinking water. Accordingly, the focus of approval in accordance with the Elastomer Guideline is on avoiding undesirable influences on drinking water. It is published by the Federal Environment Agency.
The elastomer guideline primarily defines requirements for the migration behavior of the materials, whereby the limit values are defined as the maximum tolerable concentration at the tapping point.
In addition, there are maximum limits for influencing the smell and taste of the water.
In order to obtain approval in accordance with the Elastomer Guideline, the manufacturer must provide the exact material composition and have the test carried out by an accredited institute in accordance with the Guideline.
