The NSF-61 is a US drinking water approval. It is to be regarded as the counterpart to the German Elastomer Guideline, which also applies nationally. Accordingly, the NSF-61 industry standard is designed to minimize the undesirable effects of system components on drinking water.
These can occur during all phases of handling drinking water:
- Generation
- Storage
- Distribution
The approval is issued by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF). NSF-61 covers a wide range of components in drinking water systems, including process media for filtration, piping, seals and fittings.
