since the late 1940s.<\/p><p>These compounds are characterized by their high chemical stability and longevity, which is why they are used in a variety of industrial and commercial applications. Regan announced the agency&#8217;s PFAS Strategic Roadmap<\/span>\n<\/a> which outlines a holistic approach to addressing PFAS.  <\/p><p>This roadmap sets deadlines for the EPA to take specific actions and commits to new, bolder policies to protect public health and the environment.<\/p><h3>European Union<\/h3><p>The EU is planning far-reaching restrictions on the production and use of PFAS. On February 7, 2023, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arnoldporter.com\/en\/perspectives\/blogs\/environmental-edge\/2023\/02\/five-key-features-of-eus-proposed-pfas-restrict\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\n  <span style=\"color: #fe5050;\">European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) published a 211-page proposal on PFAS restrictions<\/span>\n<\/a> under the REACH Regulation.  <\/p><p>This proposal aims to largely eliminate the production and use of fluoracylene in Europe in most applications beyond certain very low limits.  <\/p><p>ECHA plans to generally prohibit the manufacture, use or placing on the market of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances unless they are present in concentrations below certain limits.
