An external mechanical influence is responsible for this.  <span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text );\">The body opposes the deformation force with a deformation resistance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text );\">In a technical context, a distinction is made between elastic and plastic deformation. The type of deformation that occurs depends on the magnitude of the acting force and the material properties of the body. Plastic deformation results in a permanent change in shape.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text );\">In contrast, an elastically deformed body returns to its original shape as soon as the deformation force no longer acts.
