It is primarily used to produce components with a larger surface area and is suitable for simple workpiece geometries.<\/p>\n<p>During compression molding, a pre-formed mass is introduced into the tool. This is closed and held shut so that the mass takes shape. The tool can also be subjected to heat to facilitate forming.  <\/p>\n<p>Compression molding can be distinguished from the injection molding process, which is also very common in the plastics industry, by the fact that the mold is open during filling.
